When Scripture Challenges What We’ve Always Been Taught

When God began correcting me through His Word, it often meant letting go of traditions I once believed were biblical.

In the spring of 2020, as the world was shaken by fear and confusion, I began noticing something unsettling — not only were we being lied to daily by the news, but many churches were willingly following orders that stood in direct opposition to Scriptural principles.

During that time, I prayed a dangerous but sincere prayer:
“God, please show me the lies that have been presented as truth in the church. Show me what is not of You.”

I’ve learned this since — only pray prayers like that if you are ready to obey.
God does not speak to be heard. He speaks to be obeyed.

One of the first areas where God brought correction was in the celebrations many churches observe. Through Scripture, He showed me clearly that holidays such as Halloween, Easter, and Christmas are not found in the Bible and are rooted in traditions He never commanded His people to follow.

Letting go of these traditions was not easy — especially those I had embraced my entire life — but obedience to God must always outweigh comfort, culture, and tradition.

When tradition contradicts Scripture, Scripture must always win.

These corrections did not stop with church calendars or celebrations — they also extended to how Scripture defines holiness, obedience, and even what we do with our own bodies.

Many of the topics shared here are rarely taught in churches today — not because Scripture is unclear, but because these truths often challenge cultural norms and risk offending people.

I’ve sat with believers who wept, asking why no one ever told them what Scripture plainly teaches. In most cases, the answer is simple: many were never encouraged to read the full Bible for themselves.

True discipleship requires love — but love does not withhold truth.

It patiently teaches it.
