Your authority as a beliver in Christ

Your authority as a believer in Christ

As a believer, you have authority over the devil through Christ. You receive this authority when you are born again. As we are made new creatures in Jesus, we inherit every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm through Christ that we need to overcome the devil and live accordingly to God’s will and purposes. We have to know our authority and know how to use it against the enemy.

Authority belongs to us whether we realize it or not. It’s a tragedy to be a believer and go through life and never find out what belongs to you. The devil will fight you more on this subject than anything else. He knows that once you learn the truth and you understand who you are in Christ and the authority that belongs to you, his heydays will be over. I grew up all my life in the church, and yet I only fully grasped my authority and position in Christ at the age of 44. I am sharing this to help you understand who you are in Christ and what authority belongs to you in Christ so that you can have the victories Jesus died for.

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united in Christ” ~ Eph. 1:3

Who you are in Christ

Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.” ~ Col. 1:3

I cried when I finally understood and actually believed this Bible verse. Holy, blameless, without a single fault. That’s how God the Father sees you.

” But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name “~ John 1:12

Redeemed and Forgiven

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” ~ Eph. 1:7

Redeemed means: pay a ransom, buyback – out of the hands of the devil into the hands of Jesus. We were rescued from the grip of Satan, from the condemnation of sin, and from being open to the attacks of the devourer and the destroyer. Satan has no more legal rights to our life.

“You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals;
For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood
Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,”
~ Rev 5:9

Declare with your mouth the truth:

Through the blood of Jesus, I am redeemed out of the hand of the devil. Through the blood of Jesus, all my sins are forgiven.

Cleansed

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” ~ 1 John 1:7

The blood of Jesus cleanses us from ALL sins. Jesus died for ALL your sins. Even after you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior you will sin, whether willingly or ignorantly. But as you walk in the light and have a relationship with Jesus, the Holy Spirit will point out every sin so that you can repent. Do not let the devil keep you under condemnation. The blood of Jesus cleanses you from ALL sin until you repent. When the Holy Spirit points out sin, repent and move on.

“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” ~ Rom. 8:1

Declare this with your mouth:

As  I walk in the light, the blood of Jesus is cleansing me now and continually from all sin.

Justified

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” ~ Rom. 5:8-9

Justified means: made right with God by the blood of Jesus. God makes unrighteous people, righteous by faith. Righteousness brings boldness, peace, quietness, and assurance.

Declare this with your mouth:

Through the blood of Jesus, I am justified, made right, just as if I never sinned.

Sanctified

“Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.” ~ Heb. 13:12

“Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?” ~ Heb. 10:29

To be sanctified is to be made holy. The one who is sanctified is set apart for God, is in a place where God has access to him, but the devil does not. To be sanctified is to be removed from the area of Satan’s visitation and reach.

“For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son” ~ Col 1:13

We have been totally transferred: spirit, soul, and body. We’re no longer in the devil’s territory. We are in the territory of the Son of God under his laws.

Declare this with your mouth:

Through the blood of Jesus, I am sanctified, made holy, set apart to God. The devil has no place in me, no power over me, no unsettled claims against me; all have been settled by the blood of Jesus.

The temple of the Holy Spirit

“Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” ~ 1 Cor. 6: 19-20

As a believer, your body is God’s property. Yes, this goes totally against today’s cultural mantra of “my body, my choice”, that’s only works until you’re living without God. Once you become a believer, your body belongs to Jesus, it is the personal residence of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead, therefore your body is sacred. Your body was made by divine workmanship for divine purposes.

Declare this with your mouth:

My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, redeemed, cleansed, sanctified by the blood of Jesus, therefore the devil has no place in me and no power over me.

Note: As you start confessing what the blood of Jesus does for you, you might feel that things can get stirred up. Don’t worry, that’s just a sure sign you have hurt the devil. Just keep on declaring your testimony, keep confessing the truth of the blood of Jesus until there is nothing more inside of you that resits the truth, then you can be pretty well assured you are clean.

Your position in Christ

“For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.” ~ Eph. 2:6

We are seated in heavenly places. By God’s standards in the spiritual realm, we are seated where Jesus is – because we are united with Jesus. That means that the devil is under your feet with all his schemes and fiery darts that brought upon your life. It’s time to address the devil head-on and put him in his place by serving him notice that every legal right you have given him over your life, consciously and unconsciously will be broken, and void.

Your authority in Christ

“Look, I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.” ~ Luke 10:19

“I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid [or bind, or lock] on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit [0r loose, or open] on earth will be permitted in heaven.” ~ Matthew 18:18

On the cross, Jesus didn’t win the victory for Himself. He always had the victory. Jesus won the victory on our behalf. Thus His victory becomes our victory.

Do you get it now the amazing authority you have over the devil and that through Jesus you have every spiritual gift to be victorious and to fulfill your God-ordained purpose?

Know who you are in Christ! Step in your God-given authority and crush the head of Satan and his demons who are working hard to interfere with your purpose.
